About the Journal

FRIS Horizons is a quarterly, open‑access online periodical published in English by FRIS Charity UK. Established to advance biomedical education and foster international research collaboration, the magazine serves the scientific community of the South Asian subcontinent and their colleagues in the UK and European Union, while also engaging the wider public in science and culture.

Aims and Scope FRIS Horizons publishes original research reports, reviews, essays, and case studies in biomedical sciences and related disciplines. Beyond scientific contributions, it highlights opportunities for postgraduate scholarships, fellowships, and collaborative projects, particularly supporting young scientists from marginalized communities. The magazine also embraces creative and cultural content including poetry, short stories, photography, sketches, and paintings that reflect diverse voices from the region. Institutional development initiatives, such as support through the Aligarh Muslim University Development Fund (ADF), and announcements of conferences, workshops, training programs, academic positions, and research‑related services are also within its scope.

Policies FRIS Horizons adheres to internationally recognized publishing and ethical standards:

  • Authorship and originality: Submissions must be original, unpublished, and not under review elsewhere, supported by a signed declaration.

  • Ethical compliance: Research involving human tissues may be considered with prior ethical approval and compliance with COPE and ICMJE guidelines.

  • Plagiarism screening: All manuscripts are subject to similarity checks; plagiarized work will be rejected or retracted.

  • Peer review: Submissions undergo editorial screening and, where appropriate, peer review to ensure quality and integrity.

  • Copyright and licensing: Authors transfer full copyright to FRIS Charity UK upon acceptance. Published work is distributed under a Creative Commons Attribution‑Non Commercial (CC BY‑NC) license.

  • Transparency: Conflicts of interest, funding sources, and acknowledgments must be clearly disclosed.

  • Corrections and retractions: A formal process is maintained to correct errors or retract articles in cases of misconduct.

  • Publication cost: At present, all accepted submissions are published free of charge.
